Chinese maker Xiaomi’s new smartphones Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus, which were introduced to the market in December 2017, are currently available only in China. According to information provided by Xiaomi’s product marketing manager, Clinton Jeff, the 2 devices are preparing to open up in new markets in February. It indicates that Redmi 5 Plus may be offered for sale with the name Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 on the Indian market in next month.

Xiaomi is making monthly meetings on the Mi community and Redmi Note series. Here is also the first sign that Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus will take the name Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 in international markets. Both Redmi Note 3 and Redmi Note 4 were originally tested by “Mi Explorers” in the Mi Generation program. The discussion point for the next meeting is probably Redmi Note 5. It looks like Xiaomi will rediscover the Redmi 5 series phones in India.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note series is very popular in India and the Xiaomi Note 4 model has sold a total of 5 million units, a million in the first 45 days. The replacement of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus name with Redmi Note 5 will not be a surprise for a manufacturer like Xiaomi, who gives different names to the same phones. The most recent example is Redmi Note 5A Prime and Redmi 4X.
